I have had the pleasure of assisting with children's aikido classes for 2 years, and while it is a challenging, frightening and just downright exhausting, they are a constant source of delight, joy, humility and inspiration!
These comics are inspired by personal experiences. While most are greatly exaggerated, the essence of the stories have really happened in the dojo. While we have combined classes of all ages, at some point we have to allow the older children to train together and the younger ones left to... well... terrorize me!
The children are a laugh a minute and manage to strike terror and manipulate even the hardest of senseis (with the exception of the head children's instructor of course!) How he does it still remains a mystery to me!
Of all the gradings, techniques and opponents I have experienced, kids have been the most challenging, and I have grown for the better by having them in my life. So with all that said, please enjoy my perspectives of what happens in the children's aikido classes!

I am fascinated by how local taekwondo teachers must have had to reinvent themselves in order to switch from classes of mostly adults to classes of children under age eight.
i.e. Keep up the good work.
